DISCOVER KENYA – MASAI MARA, AMBOSELI LAKE, NAIVASHA SAFARIS.
Trip Itinerary
DAY 1: NAIROBI
After all the time you've spent planning and dreaming about going on safari, this is where it finally starts. Your guide will meet you, explain everything you need to know, and answer any questions you may have. And then we'll go out on safari together. Kenya's capital is your gateway to the national parks and reserves where you'll enjoy your safari. Nairobi is a dynamic, intriguing city, rich in local culture. It has several wildlife-themed attractions to help get you excited about what lies ahead. Nairobi also boasts wonderful restaurants serving a range of cuisines, as well as a vibrant nightlife, bustling markets, and excellent accommodations.
Stay at Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi Airport in Nairobi, and take advantage of the facilities and location while you're here.
Overnight in Argyle Grand Hotel.
DAY 2: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
You'll be visiting one of the best safari parks in Africa when you come to Amboseli. The park is filled with big tusked elephants, and Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain (5895m), looms over Amboseli. This combination makes for some fantastic photos, especially when the clouds clear over the summit as they do most days around sunrise and sunset. You also have a good chance of seeing lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes (out in the park's east), wildebeests, and plenty of gazelles. The park is also terrific for birding, with 420 species recorded.
There aren't many places where you can go for a swim and look up to see Mt Kilimanjaro rising above the not-so-far horizon. That's what awaits you at Amboseli Sopa Lodge, your base for exploring Amboseli National Park. Well-sized rooms with bold colors, a decent restaurant and bar, and a tranquil location east of the park will be further highlights of your stay here.
Overnight in Amboseli Sopa Lodge.
DAY 3: LAKE NAIVASHA
Of all Kenya's Rift Valley lakes, high-altitude Lake Naivasha offers the richest variety of experiences. There's lots to do here, and you might even see zebras, giraffes, or hippos. Its human story is also fascinating: Lake Naivasha was popular with colonial types as an escape from the city, and it plays a similar role for locals now, especially on weekends.
There's much for you to enjoy at Osotua Luxury Resort. It's a good place to stay in a good location.
Overnight in Osotua Luxury Resort.
DAY 4: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Many travelers fall in love with the Masai Mara National Reserve at first sight, and it's really easy to do. Here you can go looking for big cats, elephants, giraffes, hippo, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, and more (including black rhinos in the Mara Triangle). Birders come because more than 500 species have been recorded in the Mara. And best of all, you get to do it all across one of Kenya's best examples of classic safari terrain. The Masai Mara is a wonderful world of endless savannah grasslands, acacia woodlands, and rolling hill country rising to the escarpments that line the reserve's perimeter. The Mara also lies in the heart of Maasai country.
Your base for the Masai Mara Game Reserve is the Masai Mara Sopa Lodge. It's a fine old lodge, with traditional safari decor in the rooms and public areas. While in the lodge, you'll get to relax in the swimming pool, restaurant, and bar. And every time you leave on a game drive, you're almost certain to see some incredible wildlife, thanks to the lodge's prime location in the heart of the reserve.
Overnight in Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.
